When you create an account or interact with our Site, you may provide us with:

• Account information: If you sign up using Google OAuth or email/password registration, we collect your email address and basic profile information needed to create and manage your account.
• Deal likes: When you like or save deals, we store that preference linked to your account.
• Contact form submissions: If you reach out through our contact page, we collect the information you provide (such as your name, email, and message) via our form provider, Formspree.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you visit the Site, certain information is collected automatically:

• Location data: We do not automatically detect your location. Location sharing is entirely opt-in — you can provide it by clicking the location button (which requests your browser’s geolocation) or by entering a zip code. Whichever method you use, the resulting location is saved to your browser’s localStorage with a 24-hour expiration, so the Site remembers your area across visits without prompting you again. If you enter a zip code, it is sent to Mapbox for geocoding and the result is cached in our database to improve future lookups.
• Analytics data: We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID: G-BFT2T8JLKP) to collect standard usage data such as pages visited, session duration, referral source, device type, and browser information. Google Analytics uses cookies (such as _ga and _ga_*) to distinguish users and track sessions.
• Authentication cookies: Our authentication provider, Supabase, sets session cookies to keep you logged in and manage your authentication state.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Display restaurant deals relevant to your location
• Create and manage your user account
• Save your liked deals and preferences
• Improve the Site through analytics and usage patterns
• Respond to your inquiries submitted through our contact form
• Cache location search results to improve performance for all users

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may receive or process your data:

• Supabase: Database hosting and user authentication. Supabase stores your account information, deal preferences, and cached location data. Privacy policy
• Google Analytics 4: Website analytics and usage tracking. Privacy policy
• Vercel: Website hosting. Vercel provides geo-detection headers used for state-level location detection. Privacy policy
• Mapbox: Geocoding service used when you search by zip code. Privacy policy
• Formspree: Contact form processing. Privacy policy
• Cloudinary: Image hosting for deal promotional images. Privacy policy

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any other third parties.

4. Cookies

The Site uses cookies set by our third-party service providers:

• Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*): Used to distinguish unique users and track browsing sessions. These cookies are set automatically when you visit the Site.
• Supabase authentication cookies: Used to maintain your login session if you have an account.
• localStorage (location preferences): If you provide your location via the location button or zip code entry, we store the result in your browser’s localStorage so it persists across page loads. This data expires automatically after 24 hours and is never transmitted to our servers independently of a location lookup.

We do not use any additional first-party cookies beyond what these services set automatically. Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. Disabling cookies may affect your ability to stay logged in.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account information and deal preferences for as long as your account is active. Cached location search results are retained to improve site performance and may be periodically cleared. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics’ default retention settings. Contact form submissions are retained as needed to respond to and resolve your inquiry.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your data:

• Account deletion: You may request deletion of your account and all associated data (including liked deals and account information) by contacting us through our contact page. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
• Opt out of analytics: You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by using browser settings to block cookies.
• Cookie controls: You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information. Our database uses Row Level Security (RLS) policies to control data access. User authentication is handled through Supabase’s secure authentication system. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children’s Privacy

The Site is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us through our contact page and we will take steps to remove that information.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the “Effective Date” at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
